A hall..like where warriors in a fantasy story would hang out. People who were..different. They looked human, but..they weren't. They were something else. And I realized I was seeing through the eyes of one.

May I ask you this? In your vision, do you remember a certain pretty girl? Slim and fair, but her glory was hair like spun gold, long, silken and shining? She wore springs of rowan berries in it. She would have been at the side of a very distinctive man--proud and strong. Muscular, with a hearty laugh, and a hammer at his side.

Yes. I'm sure you're remember more as time goes by. I've known myself for a while now--my grandmother would tell me stories from the Old Country as a girl, and I eventually realized why I remembered them better than she did. But, yes, a lot to take in at once.

So... Wedding planner, I hear. I'm sure you're an excellent one. I have a bakery in Chicago, and I get a lot of requests for wedding cakes or cupcakes for bridal showers and the like.

I've got some Swedish ancestry on my Dad's side, but..never mentioned anything like this. I have a dog, a little terrier. I named him Thor..but I always assumed I got the name from old comicbooks.

Well I don't like to brag, but I do a good business. I've been matchmaking since high-school, I haven't heard a complaint yet. Baking, huh? ..you always did enjoy that kind of stuff. ..I'm still not certain how I know that, I just do.

Comic books? Oh, you'll fit right in with us. Tyr and I both have an appreciation for the old comics.

Sweetie, I can guarantee few, if any, knew aside from me. I always thought the two of you would have made a fine couple, but it wasn't my place to say so. While I've been willing to use other means to make Odin see my point of view, I doubt he would have been receptive to Thor being slighted.

Well, it isn't like Thor gave Aurvandil or me much choice in the matter.

No. I don't believe he confided in anyone about it. I noticed the lovelorn expressions he'd make upon seeing you with Thor. Oh he recovered quickly, but I noticed enough to confirm my suspicions.

I don't remember a lot, but I remember the look in his eyes. That man will love you for eternity. I'm sorry it took this long, but savor this time, Sif.

I myself am meeting my husband again for the first time in centuries. I'm not nervous, nope.

My lady, I can't begin to tell you how pleased we are that you've come. Despite our lack of numbers, it gives us an unsurpassed advantage over the other pantheons. None of them have their traditional leaders, and now we have both of ours! My only worry is that your appearance may well mean that our former alliance with the Greeks may now be beyond repair.

Why would my appearance cause a problem?

My lady... I realize this is just going to be piling more on to everything else you've encountered here, but... you'll need to know it sooner or later.

The reason I first came to California was because Tyr was having horrible nightmares and was worried about me. So, I visited to reassure him. I was still here when Irene hit... and that's when... things happened.

I don't know a lot of details, but before you got here, Odin was... carrying on with Aphrodite of the Greeks. I honestly don't know what all happened during the hurricane, but it seems the two of them were together during it. The next day, Odin called us. They'd had some sort of a falling out, and he didn't want me away from Tyr because he wasn't sure what Aphrodite might do. As far as I know, she still hasn't done anything, but... she targets women when she's angry from what I can tell. Aphrodite and Odin's relationship was our major link with the Greek pantheon, and they outnumber us three to one. I'd hoped something might be done that could repair the alliance but... Now that you're here, if it wasn't already done in by their fight, I'm certain that Odin's affair with Aphrodite is completely over. I don't know how she'll react.

I mean I can't really blame him, it's not as if I'm legally married to him in this age. God knows I'm not as pure as driven-snow myself, but... Is it bad that I feel a little jealous and upset even though I pretty much just met the man?

I'll be careful. Has he given any indication that they're at least on speaking terms?

I can understand.

Odin may be able to tell you more, though I don't know how willing he'll be to talk about his relationship with another woman.
