Attempts have already been made on most of our lives, mine included. Bombs, poisons, knives, guns, mob beatings, arson, and that's just the beginning. One of our mothers-to-be was bound and tortured--burned and with slurs carved over her body, and then forced to watch as her beloved was nearly beaten to death before her eyes. We have all suffered.
