Hmm, well, I can understand that. Blood writing is messy, usually illegible, non-permanent, not to mention the whole biohazard aspect of it.

Well, yes, but it doesn't work so well for writing out alphabets on scraps of wood, for instance.

Yeah, afraid so. The very first oghams were written in blood, for the reasons you cited earlier: blood has power. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold up well to elements. I used ink and carvings for the next batch.

You'd be amazed how hard oral tradition can be to keep constant, especially under the influence of heavy drinking. So, I thought it would be great if there was a systemized way to standardize it all. So, I took some trees, created symbols that could be put together to reflect the different sounds--I wanted a syllabary at first, but then decided an alphabet would be simpler.
