[She waits while it rings.]

[He clears his throat before he speaks; his voice is slightly hoarse but not unpleasant.]

H-hello?

[When he answers, she finally realizes they never exchanged names, so this would be just slightly awkward.]

Hey, uh...New Guy.

[A short chuckle.] It's Sean. I suppose intros would have been useful prior to this. Sorry.

Probably. I'm Pete.

Pete? You're a little high-pitched for a Pete.

I'm not high-pitched. [She sounds mock offended.] It's short for Petra, but you aren't allowed to call me that.

Ah. [He sounds a bit sheepish.] Sorry. I shouldn't assume. I went to school with a girl named Charlie. So, um... it's nice to meet you, Pete.

Nice to meet you too, Sean. So what else can I answer for you?

Um... [He sighs.] I think part of me just wanted to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. I guess--[A brief pause.] When did you figure out it's real? Because I think I'm looking for a sign and not really finding it.

Well... [She sounds hesitant to say it. But he asked...] Gaia sort of cornered me in a bookstore and shoved the memories down my throat. Until then I was just convinced that everyone was crazy.

[He groans softly, much like one might if they were still unsure.] So, you're telling me this is what I have to wait for unless I get some revelation? Pretty shitty, if you ask me.

You're having dreams, so you're farther along than I was. It's quite possible that Gaia and her friend won't even bother because of that.

So... why all this? Does anyone know what the deal actually is? Why everyone's getting memories and pushed together?

Truth be told, most of what I've heard today has been pretty far off the wall, so... heh. Go for it. [There's a smirk in his voice.] I'll try to believe.

Well, Gaia and this other god want us to be gods again. But just one group of us. They've got us all in a race to see who can find their power base first -Which has all sorts of logic holes filled with suspicion, but that is a whole different conversation. At the moment though, we're all supposed to work together to defend ourselves from the government and radical religious groups. Cuz those guys don't really like us and want us dead.

[He pauses as if mulling over, though he sounds amused when he finally does speak.]

It sounds like some gods conspiracy thing on the History Channel. Or the plot to a novel. So... the government knows about this why?

Well, back during the Spring Equinox, all the puerile that were a.d. part of this community got to be their old godly selves. Some decided to be less than discreet. So the government us freaking out about us now. And for the record I was not here for that debacle.

[Snort] The government freaking out about stuff? You don't say. And I assume it's all governments, not just the US? Little Mermaid guy said that what happened to me in Morocco might not be a fluke, but they can't seriously know about people who don't even know about themselves. [Pause.] Can they?
