Progress from this how exactly? I'm starting to get a feeling that living a normal life isn't a very realistic goal for any of us. Not that I ever really had that as a goal for myself.

Well, for one thing, the kidnappings are getting a bit much. I'm hoping we can keep going forward until we can get them to stop that.

For the other kind of progress -- oh, wait until you talk to Meri. She's decided progress itself is her particular divine provenance, but anyway -- ...well, there's a lot of trouble, obviously, but some things have been a lot better, this time around. Between me and the Boss, at least. I'd like to think he's gotten past some things.
Not that i'd recommend the two of you hanging out, but I wouldn't mind your meeting Meri sometime. My son from the old days hasn't shown up yet, and... I'd like her to know as many people as possible..

So Meri, that's your daughter, right? That would be nice to meet the two of you. I'd really like to meet more of us. I already met Hanuman, he lives here in California too, just further north than me.

So the Boss... That's who I think it is? Assuming it is, I'm not real eager to meet him again either.

And yes, the Boss is my ex-husband from back in the day. He's in a much better place these days -- we didn't have any of the trouble over Meri that we had over my son the first time around -- but yeah, still not advisable.

Maybe. Summer's coming up, so who knows. I still don't have my summer plans finalized yet, other than not wanting to spend it all back home with the family.

Ugh. They mean well, I guess. It's my mom's cousins who raised me, so they're mom and dad to me. They don't really get me. I grew up with them out in Nebraska, in the middle of nowhere. I'm just finishing up my first year of college now, UCLA.

Ah, I get the picture. From Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, personally. Worked out all right, but I don't go back often, since Columbia. Got my degree in Engineering. You picked a major?

I'm planning on going premed. It'll take a lot of school, but I don't mind.
