Have all the Catholics of our number submitted their surveys for the Pope? They were supposed to be distributed through the individual dioceses, and they must be submitted to the church authority by tomorrow.
Didn't your diocese set it up? Hmm. I'll have to report that. Where are you located?
It was a series of essay questions regarding opinions on various social challenges being navigated by the Church and her members. Here is a copy of the letter that was sent out: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/synod/documents/rc_synod_doc_20131105_iii-assemblea-sinodo-vescovi_en.html (http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/synod/documents/rc_synod_doc_20131105_iii-assemblea-sinodo-vescovi_en.html)
While I am always willing to offer what guidance I can, it's no substitute for tending to your faith in a more tactile fashion. But you are always welcome to speak with me about such matters.
They are looking for the opinions of everyone with ties to the Church. Even those who have chosen to leave the flock. That's sort of the point of the exercise.
So I'm supposed to believe that suddenly the church is actually going to listen to our opinions? Had this argument enough when my old man was alive, don't feel like having it again.
The results are supposed to be tallied and presented at the conference. They haven't yet said what will be done with the collected information. My hope is that it might lead to some adjustments to Church policy to bring them into a more modern sensibility. It's a long shot, true, but this is unprecedented for the Church to be asking its laypeople at all.
Yeah, coming from a group that thinks "change" means changing a few words in the mass. All that does is confuse people more. I remember back when you were supposed to say "I am not worthy to receive you, but say the word and I shall be healed." I don't even remember what convoluted shit they say now.
Perhaps you should return to find out. Though such "healing" ceremonies aren't something that I do with my flock.
I cannot speak for my brothers of the cloth, but I, for one, have every intention of using the information at my fingertips to send ripples through the institution.
Me gusta nuestro nuevo Papa mucho. Ha habido muy pocos como él. También me gusta la idea de que el Vaticano sigue haciendo el intento de calmarlo, y continúa su trabajo. Muy buen trabajo.
